The Garret Art Gallery will be featuring Dallas Artist, Martha Box from March 13 – April 8, 2010. Martha’s show is titled, Reflections and Explorations"
Drawing and painting are acts of "stepping through the looking glass" into another world of joy and fun--right brain stuff- where there is no right or wrong. Creating is one way of communicating with a higher being.
Martha uses shapes, vivid colors and texture to entertain and convey mystery. She likes to draw from live models, not trying to achieve a likeness but rather offering the viewer a variety of possible interpretations. She experiments with various water mediums and textures on paper and canvas, not trying to convey any deep messages or faceted philosophies.
Martha is a graduate of North Texas State (University of North
Texas) with a degree in Marketing. Her painting began after a successful career in merchandising. Her present commitment and success in painting is attributed to an inspiring range of teachers and mentors who have shared their vision with her.
As a founding member of Art Focus XC, her work was included in group shows at Museums in Longview, Rockport, Corpus Christy, Odessa, Carlsbad, N.M., J. C. Penney Corporate Headquarters, and Ft. Worth Health Science Center. She has achieved signature status in Southwestern Watercolor Society, Texas Visual Artists and National Watercolor Oklahoma. Her work is shown at Annual North Dallas Artist Studio Tour in her studio at 11333 North Central Expwy, Studio 119
