This year two hundred and nine applications were taken during October 16, 2009 through November 21, 2009 for help with Christmas for Cedar Hill children, up to the age of 12 and seniors, 62 and older.
ELF & Friends worked throughout the year to raise funds for the Christmas gifts, selling tickets through CharityMania and raffle tickets for various items. Their mission could not have been accomplished without the help and many donations including anonymous cash donations and toys given to the organization. The Cruisers had a car show, Country Day on the Hill and Holiday on the Hill events gave cash donations. The Holy Spirit Catholic Church sponsored a breakfast, donating $850 and toys.
The youth of the CedarHillFirstUnitedMethodistChurch had a Cookie Sale and raised $1200. The church youth went shopping with ELF and Friends to buy the toys to be given to applicants. This was their second year to help. They plan to make this an annual event!
Wish lists, hung on trees through out the city, they were taken and bought for by our community friends. Trees were located at: Wal-Mart, UptownVillage, Ashley’s Private School, Texas Trust, CedarHillFirstUnitedMethodistChurch, Zula B. Wylie Library, Cedar Hill Fire Station #1, and Cedar Hill Police Department.

ELF and Friends is already busy making plans for next year. Applications for 2010 will be taken from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, Friday and Saturdays only from October 15th through November 20th at 601 E. Beltline Road.
REQUIREMENTS: Must show proof of the City of Cedar Hill residency. (Lease or utility bill, no cell phone bill, Multi-families – all names must be on lease/bill) Current CHISD report card for each child of school age or a birth certificate if not in school. Parent or Guardian must show current, valid Texas drivers license or Texas ID. Proof of income, i.e. pay check stub, proof of unemployment, child support, any & all income.
