Aledo TeacherHonored With WFAA-TV’s Project Green Eco-Educators Award
WFAA-TV’s Project Green HonorsCreative Eco-Educators in North Texas
Aledo, Texas, November 23, 2009-WFAA- TV’s Project Green announced that Terry Snow, an Eighth Grade teacher atAledo Middle School in Aledo, is the winner of the Eco-Educators Award forgrades sixth through eighth. Alexa Conomos, News 8 Daybreak traffic andtransportation reporter and News 8 Midday anchor for WFAA-TV, presented Snowwith the award on Tuesday,November 10, 2009 in her classroom at Aledo Middle School.
WFAA- TV’s Project Green is honoring Eco-Educators who are usingcreative methods to teach students
how to live cleaner, smarter, richer lives to help preserve theenvironment.

“We are thrilled to be able to honor and thank these amazing North Texaseco-educators,” said Kathrine Glass, creator of Project Green. “We also want tothank everyone who submitted entries for the awards.
These eco-educators are truly doing remarkable things for both studentsand the environment. Project Greenwould not be effective without individuals with their kind of dedication.”
From July- October 2009, Project Green invited North Texans to submittheir entries of educators they believed were deserving of the Eco-EducatorsAward through their green initiatives at school. The awards were divided intothree categories: kindergarten through fifth grade, sixth through eighth gradeand ninth through twelfth grade, with five finalists chosen from each category. After the finalists were selected, oneteacher from each category was presented with the Eco-Educators Award.
North Texans were alsoinvited to go to the Project Green homepage during November 2 through the 6,2009 to vote for their favorite Eco-Educator from among the 15 finalists. TheEco-Educator with the most votes was named the winner of the Eco-EducatorsViewer’s Choice Award.
Including Snow from Aledo Middle School in the sixth through eighth gradecategory, the winners of the Project Green Eco-Educators Awards were:
· Kindergarten through fifth grade- FreedaAlvares, 5thGrade teacher from Immaculate Conception School inGrand Prairie
· Ninth through twelfth grade- KimberleeLong, R.A.N.G.E. Coordinator from All Saint’s Episcopal School in Fort Worth
· Viewer’s Choice Award- Sheridan Stringer,Outdoor Learning Center Coordinator from Merriman Park Elementary in Dallas
