The Rock Wall Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution welcomed Lt. Col. (Ret.) Max Corneau as guest speaker for their
National Defense Brunch held last Saturday. The members and their guests listened intently as LTC ret. Corneau spoke of freedom, our country and our duty as American citizens. He asked that we remember the Ft. Hood officers and their families.
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Max Corneau is a 24-year Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War and several other Combat Operations in which he piloted a variety of surveillance and reconnaissance airplanes including the OV-1 Mohawk, RC-12 Guardrail, and was a deputy crew commander on the Air Force Joint STARS jet. Colonel Corneau is a master aviator and senior space operations officer who has served throughout the world and has flown over 3,000 hours as a pilot, with over 320 hours flown in combat. After serving 16 years on active duty, he left the Army and moved his family to Rockwall, TX, becoming one of the first employees of a new Rockwall defense contractor called ComCept. Colonel Corneau returned to active duty after 9/11 and served through May 2009 as a senior space and national intelligence officer. He was decorated for actions in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2006 he served in the Pentagon and worked at the highest levels of the military Joint Chiefs of Staff advising the President’s National Security Council on matters of space and intelligence. In his last assignment colonel Corneau serves as a Senior Field Representative for one of the agencies in the Nation’s Intelligence Community opening the agency’s first such field office at Fort Hood and in one of the nation’s largest FBI Field Offices.
LTC(Ret) Corneau has over 30 awards and decorations including the Air Medal, Joint Meritorious Service Medal and multiple service and combat awards. He earned the Master Army Aviator Badge, Senior Army Space Badge and an Army Parachutist Badge.
Since retirement Colonel Corneau returned to ComCept and works as in the defense industry. He is a Master Astronomer and NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador.
