Finding herself in the unemployment line in November 2008, Linda Nigh of Rockwall decided it was time for a career change.
With a passion for the elderly and a desire to provide options to institutional care, Linda and her husband, Phil, opened Essential Living Residential Care.
“We want to care for our residents through life’s journey, providing rehabilitation services, wonderful home cooked meals, and most of all allowing each resident to live life to its’ fullest right here in the comforts of home,” Linda said.
Phil has been a registered nurse for more than 15 years; Linda comes from a financial/facility management background – recently completing her Assisted Living Manager certification. They have partnered with a visiting physician, home healthcare and hospice agencies. Through these partnerships, Essential Living will offer 24/7 skilled nursing care.
The Nighs are active members of Lake Pointe Church. They are involved in a variety of local and international ministries. With a desire to bring dignity into the lives of seniors, Linda and Phil have been reaching out to nursing homes in their community for the last three years – earning the nickname “the donut man and his wife.”
The Rockwall Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at Essential Living, 489 Bending Oaks Trail, at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19.
