Cowboys & Kids 5K Draws 700 Runners

Some 700 runners (along with a few walkers) took part in the third annual Mesquite ISD Education Foundation Cowboys & Kids 5K run October 24 at the Resistol Arena. 

Perfect weather conditions and a variety of pre- and post-race activities helped draw runners of all ages.  A one-mile fun run kicked off the morning, followed by the 5K race.  Johura Turner of Dallas won the event with a time of 17:39.  Brandon Summers of Mesquite finished just behind him with a time of 18:05.  Full results can be found at www.cowboysandkidsrun.com.

All net proceeds will benefit the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation and the Mesquite Education Association.  The Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises funds from the community to award to Mesquite ISD teachers, students, and staff for innovative programs that benefit students and support teacher initiatives and growth.
