PHOTO EXHIBIT IN COLLIN COUNTY TELLS THE STORY OF VNA'S 75 YEARS OF CARING FOR TEXANS

0 Ratings / 0 Comments
2009 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of a branch office in Collin County.  Historical photos and artifacts are being exhibited to celebrate the two jubilees. "75 Years of Caring for Texans – A Photographic History of the Visiting Nurse Association" is on display through November 15, 2009 at the Central Park Campus library of Collin College on 2200 W. University Drive in McKinney.  The exhibit commemorates the remarkable history of the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas that began when a small group of volunteer nurses began providing care to the poor sick, infirm, and new mothers and their babies during the Great Depression.  Branch offices were later opened, including one in McKinney in 1979.   The Visiting Nurse Association's Diamond Jubilee celebration honors these nurses, as well as the community support that gave life to an organization that 75 years later continues to provide needed care to patients all across Northeast Texas. The photo exhibition is free and open to the public.  Additional information about "75 Years of Caring for Texans – A Photographic History of the Visiting Nurse Association" can be obtained by calling 214-689-2609.
