September: The month that was

The term "living legend" is often overused and undeserved.

But not if you're referring to Ebby Halliday.

We're used to good stories resulting in great outcomes at neighborsgo, but this particular story involving "the first lady of real estate" has zoomed to the top of our list.

In August, Ebby read a Know Your Neighbor feature in neighborsgo about former client Raymond Ogas.

On Sept. 26, Ebby, 98, shared a glass of lemonade with Mr. Ogas, 97, on the front porch of the home sold to him ... in 1956.

"History is alive and swinging on a porch in Vickery Place" is how neighborsgo photographer Jenice Johnson's profile of Mr. Ogas began.

And so it was on a mild Saturday afternoon in September - all 195 years of it.

Read about their half-century-in-the-making meeting below and see what other stories, photos, blogs and videos made our monthly highlights list.

Remember to post your stories for a chance to see them in our print editions.

Who knows? A living legend might turn up on your porch as a result.
