WE PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS

More than 250 million people are on Facebook.

If everyone who uses the social-networking Web site lived in one country, it would be the fourth-largest in the world, behind China, India and the United States.

Neighborsgo.com has about 17,500 registered users.

If we were a country, we’d be the 218th-largest, below Palau (20,796) and above the Polynesian French island territory of Wallis and Futuna (15,289).

Like Facebook, neighborsgo.com helps you connect with people and share information.

Unlike Facebook, we publish the stories and photos posted on our Web site into our print newspaper every week.

We see social-media sites as means to an end: To spread the good news about your community.

So if you’re on Facebook, we’d like to invite you to befriend us at facebook.com/neighborsgo.

This could lead you to join neighborsgo.com.

And who knows? If enough people sign up, we might catch Palau and get to No. 217.

Happy posting, neighborsgo nation!

TWEET ONLINE, GET IN PRINT

You’re probably sick of hearing about Twitter.

So sick that you’ve logged on to Twitter.com and created an account, just to see what the fuss is about.

Like Facebook, Twitter is a free social-networking service.

Unlike Facebook, messages – known as tweets – posted on the site cannot exceed 140 characters. Some folks use it to discuss Big, Important Issues – like health care and the elections in Iran.Others use it to relate more mundane activities – like the TV-commercial dad sitting on the patio who Twitters “I am sitting on the patio,” much to the dismay of his teenage son.At neighborsgo, we use it to interact and communicate daily with readers. We have a general account – twitter.com/neighborsgo – and we also have community-specific accounts*:

So whether you’re sitting on the patio or in the kitchen or in Wallis and Futuna, log on and follow us, please.

The conversation we start online today could lead to you getting in print next week!
