The Franklin County Arts Alliance in Mt. Vernon, Texas, purchased a paintingy by Plano watercolor artist, Nel Dorn Byrd, for their art museum permanent collection.  The watercolor painting is a depiction of one of the old, historic store facades around the square in downtown Mt. Vernon and was painted from plein aire sketches the artist did while on a paint out trip sponsored by the Southwestern Watercolor Society in March of this year.  The painting is  on display during June in an exhibition at the Old Jail Art Museum along with on location paintings by Southwestern Watercolor Society members.

Ms. Byrd is a forty year resident of Plano and for twenty one years, she co-operated Gallery VIII, an original art gallery and frame shop in Plano.  (now an on line gallery at:  gallery8.com)   She is a member of Southwestern Watercolor Society in Dallas and an elected signature member of American Watercolor Society.   Her paintings are published in several books and art magazines and two of her works hang permanently in the Gladys Harrington Library in Plano.
