Dallas Cub Scouts Get Medieval
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE6/12/2009Dallas Cub Scouts Get Medieval
Dallas Texas; June 12, 2009- Knights have long since been revered for being brave, loyal, strong, chivalrous men and the protectors to their King. The Cub Scouts, with core values such as, respect, faith, responsibility and courage can be considered modern day knights in their own right.
This year the theme for the Cub Scouts summer camp is medieval times; what better way to experience and learn about the medieval times than by seeing real knights battle it out.
This summer Medieval Times® will be visiting 14 Cub Scout summer camps and introducing over 3,000 campers and counselors to true knighthood, weaponry, including sword play and jousting in an interactive demonstration led by King Philippe himself.
Demonstrations began last week in Keller and will continue on Monday June 15, 2009 at Lakeview, for Southlake and Grapevine at 9:00am; Topsanah, for Flower Mound at 11:30 a.m.; Tonkawah, for Lewisville and The Colony at 2 p.m.
Demonstrations will also take place on Tuesday June 16 at Trailblazer, for North Richland Hills at 9 a.m. and Silver Star for Fort Worth at 11:30 a.m.
The Cub Scouts will end their medieval times summer camp experience with a journey back to the 11th century during a private show on July 12th where they will participate in squire training and then take part in the largest knighting ceremony in Medieval Times® history.
“We are truly excited to be a part of the Cub Scouts experience this year. It is crucial to teach our youth the important core values in life and the Scouts have always done an excellent job of teaching young boys how to be great men”- said Robert Housely, Vice President/General Manager of the Medieval Times® castle in Dallas- “Much like knights during the 11th century, a mans strength and greatness was determined by the kind of life he led”.
All scouts and their families are encouraged to participate in the July 12th scout event. For inquiries, scouts and their families can call 214 761 1801 and ask for Scott Mullen, Corporate Sales Manager.
