Coppell Tire & Auto owner turns passion into business

0 Ratings / 0 Comments

BY LINDSEY BEVER

neighborsgo reporter

Seven years ago, Shannon Schmittou purchased Coppell Tire and Auto from its previous owner because he wanted to do things his own way.

“I got tired of the way chains were doing business,” he said. “So I decided I had to open my own shop and run it my own way or get out of the business.”

Why did you decide to go into auto repair?

“It kind of chose me. It was just something I was really good at as a kid. And when I got my first car, it wasn’t a very good car. I had to learn to fix it to keep it running, and it turned into career.”

What services do you provide?

“Everything. There are not many things I don’t do. We do tires, engine performance, suspension work, brakes, alignments.”

What sets Coppell Tire & Auto apart?

“We just … don’t hard sell anybody. There’s not a bait and switch. If I say what something is, it’s what it is.”

What’s your favorite part of the job?

“Making a car dependable; helping [people] out. That’s a good feeling.”

What’s one random fact your customers might not know about you?

“I’ve got such a big mouth, they know everything about me.”
