Searching for a Star... On to the semi finals!

You should have been there last night to feel the excitement in the air; parents, grandparents, friends, neighbors and of course, the Searching for a Star  (SFAS) performers filled the auditorium at New Hope Christian Church, 1100 West Brown Street in Wylie.

We were all full of anxiety for the show to start, and when it did we settled in to hear some of the best singing of this 2009 competition!  I was impressed by the enthusiasm all of the performers.
The night began with our Standing Ovation ceremony during which we honored Molly Godlewski, Amy Moore, Sierra Murphy and Beth Stepan by awarding them the Silver Microphone Award. The ceremony is designed to honor those performers that had reached the 50s & 60s category. Molly Godlewski gave a stellar performance singing Eye of the Tiger and Sierra Murphy sang  Joy to the World to the audiences delight!  After Standing Ovation it was on to a night filled with 70s & 80s music. Those in the audience witnessing their first SFAS performance had an OMG expression on their faceslike wow; these kids really can sing!  Our performers thrilled us singing songs like Anything for You by: Gloria Estefan, The Rose by Bette Midler, Whos Crying Now by: Journey and Woman in Love by: Barbara Streisand just to name a few!

The talent this year is amazing and the parents of our future stars are backing them 100 percent!  The SFAS competition is proving to be one that bonds families together as moms and dads team up with their children to help them advance from round to round!  The parents and their kids are working so much in concert that when a star performer steps on stage, that I imagine that the parents feel that they on the stage with them!

Now its on to the Semi finals to hear our performers sing Broadway Classics!  Round 6 is the final category of the regular season, after that we will find out who will become the winner over-all at the finals in downtown Wylie on June 11, 2009. Five (5) performers from each category will advance to the finals.
