City of Heath - Terry Park Renovations Groundbreaking
Heath, Texas, February 2, 2009…The Heath City Council, Park Board, staff and citizens along with Rockwall County Commissioners Lorie Grinnan and Dennis Bailey celebrated the groundbreaking of the Terry Park Renovation project on Thursday, January 29. “This is the exciting step that our leadership and community have been working together to reach,” said Ginny Jackson, chairman of the City of Heath’s Park Board. “People are truly amazed when they see the beautiful plans for this gem. It’s going to be the park citizens want and deserve.” New amenities at the seven-acre waterfront park will include a state-of-the-art, two-lane boat ramp with two courtesy docks, walking trails, landscaping, lighting features, a new restroom facility, paved parking and erosion control. The Heath City Council awarded the bid for the renovation of the park to KW Construction, Inc. of Emory. The park closed February 1 for the work to begin with an estimated completion date of July 2009. Special guests at the groundbreaking were family members of Leon Charles Weiss Jr., a former Heath City Council member and Planning and Zoning Commission member who passed away January 24. Mr. Weiss’ family has designated Terry Park for memorial contributions. “Leon Weiss made significant contributions to our community through his service and will continue to do so as friends, family and fellow citizens share his vision for making this beautiful park a reality,” said Heath Mayor John Ratcliffe.
