Cole Glasson Makes the Show in Daytona

1 Rating / 0 Comments

Cole, a 2nd grader in Corinth, Texas, and his team traveled to Daytona, Florida to race in the WKA Manufacturer's Cup over the Christmas Holiday. In 2007, Cole did not make the finals either day as only the top 30 drivers’ advance. This year was no different with the competition, as the entire 50 car field was separated by only 2 seconds. Cole battled his way back up to the 4th spot to advance to the finals where he finished day 1 off with 22nd place. Day 2 brought him better luck and speed. Cole advanced directly into the final with his qualifying time only 6/10ths off the lead and qualified 25th. In the final, it was wheel to wheel action where he moved up to 18th and then was sent to the dirt 15 yards deep as 9 cars freight trained by him as the dust settled. He was able to keep the kart going and battled his way back up to 23rd where he finished. He came out of the weekend ranked 22nd in the National series with the next WKA race in North Carolina in May.

In addition, Cole and some of his fellow racers have been involved in the making of a TV pilot, Ace of Karts, which will be shopped to networks during the first quarter of 2009.
