Spectacular Lights Display in North Plano

0 Ratings / 0 Comments

Give yourself, your family and friends an early Christmas gift this year by experiencing one of the most outstanding lights display in North Texas.  For the second consecutive  year, the 2008 Gordon Lights Spectacular will be found on Quincy Lane in Plano.  Bigger and better than last year, this is one you do not want to miss!

This year’s display features more than 81,000 lights, almost 30,000 more than last year’s amazing show.  Also new this year, the show moves from static display to  a fully sequenced, animated show that is synchronized to music you can hear right inside your car. Choreographed in dazzling arrangements set to many of your favorite Christmas tunes, the display is sure to top the “must see” list for all North Texas Christmas enthusiasts.

Plano homeowner Fabian Gordon and his family have dedicated their show once again to raising money for Operation Homefront.  A not-for-profit organization, Operation Homefront  provides emergency assistance and morale to our troops, to the families they leave behind, and to wounded warriors when they return home.

As Gordon, a life-long musician and technology consultant, currently Chief Technology Officer of Frisco, TX-based Ignite Technologies, first visualized his Christmas Spectacular, he hoped that it would again go beyond self-satisfaction or just entertainment for neighbors and passers-by.  He and his wife, Ellen, were inspired by their oldest son’s career dream – Christopher hopes to attend West Point Military Academy and serve in the U.S. Army.

Last year’s lights spectacular raised more than $2,800 for the Operation Homefront.  The Gordons hope to surpass that total this year.

Preparing for the annual display is truly a family affair.  All three of the Gordon children, Christopher, Cara and Cassidy, join their parents in constructing the display.  Friends, neighbors and other family join in the fun, as well.

A donation box, constructed by one of Gordon’s neighbors, is readily accessible by the curb, along with donation envelopes for those that wish to donate after seeing the show.  Tax receipts and Operation Homefront information brochures are also available for those who simply ask.

Donations can come in forms other than money.  Canned foods, toys, and gift cards are very much appreciated.  For larger donations, please don’t hesitate to knock on the door and speak directly with the Gordons, or leave a note with your contact information in the donation box and Fabian or Ellen will contact you directly to arrange for your donation.

The Gordon’s Christmas Lights can be seen at 4665 Quincy Lane in Plano, TX, operating daily through January 3, weather permitting.  The spectacular display runs from at 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM, except for Fridays and Saturdays when it runs until 11:00 PM.

Photos and videos of the display are available for viewing from the Gordon Lights web site www.gordonlights.com.  Even though the website show is great, it can’t possibly compare with actually seeing the show in person.  Don't miss this one!  Bring the entire family!
