Fifty Irving ISD students will receive new glasses after visiting the Lion’s Club “Vision Van” at BritainElementary School November 12.

Sponsored by Irving Lion’s Clubs and LensCrafters, the event was staffed by volunteers, including students from The Academy of Irving ISD and UnionBowerCenter for Learning (UBCL).

Academy students worked in the Vision Van as translators, tested children’s vision, and helped select frames for glasses. UBCL students also provided translation services and escorted students between the school building and the Vision Van.

Two additional Vision Van events are scheduled for February and May 2009, also to be hosted at Britain.
