3 Rockwall students named Natl. Merit Commended Students
Three Rockwall residents, all Richland Collegiate High School (RCHS) students, have been named Commended Students in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program.
RCHS Principal Kristyn Edney will present letters of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corp., which conducts the program, to Kyle J. Bruner, Nancy H. Tien and Chris Wiseman.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2009 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2009 competition by taking the 2007 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
RCHS is the first dual-diploma charter high school on a Texas college campus. Students can earn a high school diploma and an associate's degree simultaneously, ready to transfer as a college junior. The school is tuition-free and students are issued a laptop computer. For more information, visit www.richlandcollege.edu/rchs or call 972-761-6888.
