Girl Scouts Give Back
Girl Scout Troop 591 have spent some time giving back to the community this summer. The girls started off with the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure in Plano in June. Girls raised money to support this great cause while getting a bit of exercise too.
During July, Troop 591 along with Daisy Troop 9346, also from Hicks, greeted the troops home at DFW airport from their tour of duty in Iraq. Girls greeted troops with signs, cheers, and lots of smiles. Seeing the families and their joy was a moving experience for all.
The girls provided lunch to those who volunteered at Christ United Methodist Church's ongoing project, House on the Corner. Girls made the wraps, brownie and cookies for 50 volunteers.
These girls are showing what it truly means to be a Girl Scout and do service for their community. Troop 591 is lead by Ashley Crowe and is from Hicks Elementary.
