Join us at First United Methodist Church of Allen on Sunday, July 20, as FUMC welcomes Bishop Richard Wilke who, with his wife, Julia, created The DISCIPLE Bible Study training for Christian leaders, which has been completed by nearly two million graduates in more than 10,000 congregations and 30 denominations.
Bishop Wilke will preach a sermon titled “In Times Like These,” based on selected verses from Acts 10, at the 8:30am, 9:45am, and 11:00am services.
Following worship, members and guests are invited to participate in a pot luck luncheon in his honor. As a special treat, several musical groups from the church, including Revelation Quartet, Sisters in Song, the FUMC Allen Gospel Choir, Brothers in God (B.I.G.), God’s Thunder, and Brother Brian’s Traveling Salvation Show will provide gospel music as we continue worship as a family of Christ.
As part of the overall celebration, FUMC presents the fall curriculum for FAITH Academy, which includes training opportunities for mind, body, and spirit. FAITH Academy encompasses bible study, health education, recreational activities, support groups, and more. Course registration begins in mid-August, and classes begin after Labor Day. You’ll want to be there as we introduce the new classes for the fall.
If you have ever been part of a DISCIPLE study, interested in learning more about the DISCIPLE series, love gospel music, or enjoy food and fellowship with a church family, join us at worship on Sunday, July 20, at either 8:30am, 9:45am or 11:00am and at 12:15pm, bring your favorite family dish, enough to feed 8-12 people, in the gym for our first Gospel Brunch.
