The E-Flat Porch Band will present an eclectic concert on Tuesday, July 29, at 7 p.m. at Central Library, 625 Austin St. in downtown Garland that features a wide-variety of musical styles.
Influenced by country blues, Texas folk music, jazz and swing standards, the E-Flat Porch Band plays guitar, acoustic bass, harmonica, cymbal, and a drum-like instrument of their own design made out of a wooden soda pop box. This is a small band with a big sound that people of all ages will enjoy.
Named for the porch in McKinney, Texas where they first practiced, E-Flat Band members, Duane Brown and Rudy Littrell, describe themselves as “angst-free acoustic musicians,” who play serious music without taking themselves too seriously.
The band is on the Touring Artist Roster of the Texas Commission on the Arts, and they offer workshops and performances for a variety of age groups, including school and library performances. They have been playing together for over 10 years and have 3 CDs: Porch Music, Pork Chop Night, and No Unauthorized Play.
This free presentation is open to all ages and is a part of the performance series for the Adult Summer Reading Program, It’s a Party! No registration is required. Please call 972-205-2502 for more information.
