Boy Scout Troop 57 spent the week of June 15-21 at Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch in the beautiful Davis Mountains of west Texas.  Forty nine Scouts and adults spent the week camping, hiking, horseback riding, shooting, and swimming.  Troop 57’s accomplishments included the Troop Spirit Award, Honor Troop Award, Model Campsite Award, Troop of the Day, Pondweed Conservation Award, and Cobbler Cook-off Championship.  Over 80 merit badges and numerous Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class requirements were completed.  Also, one Scout Lifeguard, two Scoutmaster Merit Badges, Snorkeling, Scuba, and numerous adult training programs were certified.  Troop 57 had 10 high adventure participants in the Mountain Man and Cavalry Programs.  On Thursday night the troop took a McDonald Observatory field trip and participated in a Star Party.  Troop 57 is chartered by First United Methodist Church of Garland.
