For outgoing Indian Creek Elementary PTA President Jenny Broadway, serving her children’s school is serving her children.
“My motivation has always been the more I do for my kids, the better their experience is going to be, and, in turn, that means it will be better for other kids too,” she said.
Both her sons, Austin, 10, and Casey, 8, attend Indian Creek, located in Carrollton. In addition to her four years of service on the PTA Board, two of which were spent as president, Broadway also manages to serve as room mom for both her boys’ classes.
“It’s one of the best things in the world to get to see your kids in their school with their friends,” she said. “I hope every parent gets the opportunity to do it.”
In an e-mail, school principal Lucy Lambert-Guesnard said Broadway is always ready to help and shows great initiative and diligence in her work.
“She is a delight to work with and totally committed to helping the Warriors of Indian Creek,” Lambert-Guesnard said.
Broadway has tackled annual Valentine’s parties, movie nights and teacher appreciation luncheons for the school. She also volunteers for every one of her kids’ field trips.
She said she knows she is fortunate in to be able to serve so much, and she is happy she can make a difference for children whose parents cannot. Broadway said her husband, Barry, has always been supportive of her work.
Though Broadway will no longer be serving as PTA president, Lambert-Guesnard said she doesn’t think Indian Creek has seen the last of her.
“We will miss her as our PTA president, but look forward to working with her in the many other capacities we know she will take up in the future years,” Lambert-Guesnard said.
