Rockwall city officials have scheduled a meeting Thursday to finalize plans for a homecoming celebration for American Idol contestant Jason Castro on May 29, a city spokesman said.
Castro advanced deep into the show but didn't get enough viewer votes to make it to the final three, which would have guaranteed a Fox-promoted homecoming celebration.
If all goes as planned, the city's celebration would come two days before the city's Founder's Day Festival.
For Castro, the city is planning a parade, regatta and a Jason Castro Day proclamation, said city spokesman Michael Kitkoski. More details will be available after Thursday's meeting.
Tentatively set is a 5:30 p.m. parade starting at the top of Ridge Road and Summer Lee Drive. At The Harbor, Jason and his family are expected to arrive by yacht, then he'll perform at the amphitheatre, Kitkoski said.
