Murli Melwani contributed this week's cover story about AsiaFest 2008, a large festival in Plano's Haggard park that welcomed residents from all over Plano. Murli, who moved to Plano from Taiwan in 2007, and also wrote us a great story about finding friendships through new tennis partners, said AsiaFest was a celebration of not only Asian cultures, but also American life.
Saturday's print edition also highlights stories by and about Plano ISD students, including this story by Kyle Freas, a 2007 Plano West Senior High graduate who, even while a freshman at the University of Oklahoma, continues to work in Plano schools with Youth Together, a program he created to get children and youth involved in community service.
