FARMERS BRANCH ~ Hundreds of kids, aged 16 and under, are expected to find hundreds of catfish in Rawhide Creek at Gussie Field Watterworth Park at the Annual Fishin’ Fun in Farmers Branch event, set for Saturday, May 17 from 9 until 11:30 a.m.

Kids are asked to register with parent or guardian at the pavilion in the park, located just off Valley View Lane, near Farmers Branch City Hall. The event is free and loaner equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be volunteers to help kids along the creek and concessions will also be available.

Additionally, animals from the Farmers Branch Animal Shelter will be available for adoption at the event along with $10 microchipping of pets for identification purposes in the event they ever get lost.

One ton of farm-raised catfish will be stocked in the creek for the event. In addition, there will be catch and release fishing tank, bounce houses, kids activity zone, and prize giveaways all morning, including a Nintendo Wii. An animal entertainment show will be featured at 11:30 a.m. with the event’s awards ceremony following at 12 noon. For more information, call 972-919-1444.
