Big Brother Takes The Bite

1 Rating / 2 Comments

Felicia Blair knows her son, Eric T. Blair Jr. is a hero.  He recently saved his little brother Zachary from being attacked by a 100-pound Rottweiler.

If Eric hadnʼt reacted as he did, the consequences would have been unimaginable.  Felicia said that on April 20, a neighborʼs Rottweiler escaped from its backyard and started towards her youngest son, 5-year-old Zachary, who was on his bicycle.

Eric saw the dog going toward his brother and put his body between the dog and his brother.  Zachary only weighs 43 pounds.  Eric tried his best to fight off the dog, but the dog bit him in the chest and took off some of his skin to the white meat.

"By the grace of God, emergency room physicians said that there were no serious puncture wounds," Felicia said.

We hear so much about the bad stuff that kids do, and the enemy has been attacking Eric mightily this year. He's had a rough year, and now this! I want the world to know about this incident and help me recognize Ericʼs courage and bravery for likely saving his little brother's life.

"When I think about the magnitude of what could have happened to either one of my sons, it is overwhelming, Felicia said.  "Through his tears and pain, Eric said he had to do something he just couldnʼt let the dog get his baby brother. Needless to say, I think Eric is an awesome child and a beautiful spirit! Heʼs our hero!"

Eric is a member of Friendship West Baptist Church and is a sixth-grader at DeSoto West Middle School in DeSoto.  Mayor Bobby Waddle made a personal phone call to Eric on April 28 to express his appreciation for Eric's courageous act.

Story information received from mother Felicia Blair.
