Christ Church Plano today presented Charles Wolford, executive director of CITY House, with a check for $40,000. The money, a gift from Christ Church Plano parishioners, was given in response to a critical need following recent storms that destroyed CITY House's latest project--an emergency children's shelter called "My Friend's House" which is currently under construction at 6525 Independence Parkway in Plano. The storm twisted and mangled the wooden framework to such extent that engineers recommended tearing the frame down to the slab and rebuilding to ensure the structural integrity of the future shelter. Reconstruction will be costly and will further delay the opening of this much-needed shelter for young children in crisis.

Christ Church Plano has been a long-time strategic partner of CITY House, supplying funds, volunteer support and food donations steadily throughout each year. Wolford, who accepted the check during a worship service at Christ Church Plano today, said, "The incredible generosity of the Christ Church congregation will be leveraged many times over when our rebuild is done and we are able to serve the children in our area in their times of need. We are thankful beyond words for their financial support and for their prayers for these children."
