The DeSotoRecreationCenter hosted a spring break camp for the first time in eight years and we are proud to say it was a great success. Our staff received a number of positive compliments for our extended efforts to provide a quality camp for our youth. Residents and non residents were able to participate in our most anticipated activity during the week of March 17-21. This camp was filled with educational, recreational, fitness, social skills, life skills, and cultural activities. Our campers were able to attend field trips as well free of charge.
The exciting thing that parents liked the most about our efforts, we provided a catered lunch through out the week. Camp directors/programmers Roderick Turner, Nathan Busby and Recreation Supervisor Victor Penny were greatly complimented by staff members Tracy Cheatham and Gwen Ingram who did an excellent job of coordinating our camp. As of now, the Parks and Leisure Services is currently planning more camps to come for this summer.
