Ticketsare now on sale for Theatre Coppell’s upcoming production of the hilariousBritish farce “Funny Money”, which opens Friday, April 11 and runs for threeweekends.

Aswith all farces, the play begins frantically and heads downhill from there.“Within the first minute of the play the audience is drawn into the action,”says director George Morrow.“Andthen they’re taken on a whirlwind ride that doesn’t let up until the finalcurtain.”

Thestory revolves around Henry Perkins, a mild mannered accountant who mistakenlypicks up the wrong briefcase on his commute home. Normally, that’s not a causefor concern, but this briefcase contains 735,000 British pounds (almost $1.5million). So Mr. Perkins decides to keep the cash, fly off to Barcelona andstart his new life. But, not unexpectedly, things begin to go wrong as apoliceman shows up to investigate, his wife decides to take up drinking, andhis best friends show up for dinner to add to the confusion. Throw in a taxidriver with an attitude, another policeman investigating a murder, and the realowner of the illicit cash and plenty of mistaken identities and you’ve got theformula for the classic British farce.

Overthe past few seasons, Theatre Coppell has tried to include a comedy such as“Funny Money” as part of its season. Artistic Director Wheelice Wilson, Jr.knows how well-liked the shows are with audiences. “Comedy has always been abig draw for theatres. Quite honestly, people like to come, sit back and laugh. While Theatre Coppell sometimes challengesaudiences with more serious offerings, the comedies, and especially this style, are very popular.” Indeed, the last two farces staged by TC played to over 85%capacity. Wilson advises to “get your seats early, the best seats will sellquickly.”

Theshow opens this Friday, April 11 and runs for three weekends, with performancetimes on Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are$14 with a $2 discount for seniors and children.Group rates are also available for 10 or more.
