Park Cities Mom blogs about her two crazy full-time jobs: Mother to an eight year-old son and Advertising Executive for a monthly city magazine. I woke up one day, realized I had it all and said, “Holy cow! Now what?” Juggling two full-time jobs is difficult. Managing to be a great Mom and still have time for myself is a daily struggle (sound familiar?) I have champagne tastes on a soda pop budget. I am a Type A multi-tasker. I’m over 40 and holding my own in a city known for its Southern beauties. If you are going to be my friend – get used to having your picture taken!

Parkie Pic of the Week

For those of you who live outside the area, University Park and Highland Park are together called Park Cities. Citizens of these fabled towns are called "Parkies". Hence, my weekly fun feature which I call "Parkie Pic of the Week" in which I like to highlight an unusual or spectacular feature of my neighborhood.

I thought I would share with you today, some lovely examples of beautiful spring landscaping.

I like the starkness of the white house with this burst of bright pink azaleas. Like a slash of lipstick.

Here's a close-up photo so you see the detail of their plantings. Is that a Travelocity Gnome I see by the front door? Ah, nope, just a big pointy blue flowering thingy.

I love this plant looming over the front door. Like a flowering eye-brow.

And we end with a pretty hodge-podge blast of color. I love all of the gorgeous spring flowers. I only wish they lasted longer. I won't show you my house, because it's a barren spanse of grass and rock. No color, except for the brown spots in the yard. Sigh.
