Cole Glasson Makes First Stars of Karting Appearance

1 Rating / 0 Comments

This past weekend proved to be a challenge to say the least as the 8 year old from Corinth, Texas arrived at his first Stars of Karting National event in Ocala, Florida.  While he drove extremely well, his pit crew could never get the car to handle right coming out of the corners which caused him to lose the ground he made up on the straight aways. The field was reaching speeds as high as 60 miles an hour and averaging over 50 miles per hour on the 7 turn sprint course just over a half mile in length. During the first couple of days of racing, Cole stayed almost 1.5 seconds off the lead kart pace, but by Sunday had managed to get up to 8/10ths off the lead kart and start posting his fastest times of the weekend in the prefinal and final. While he ran in the back of the field, the Final allowed him to do some serious racing with another young driver, Tate Hollerman as they traded spots the entire race. Cole came out of the weekend ranked 15th in the National Points Standings.

Cole will be traveling to South Bend, Indiana in May for his next National Race with the World Karting Manufacturer’s Cup. Over the next couple of weeks Cole will be competing in two Regional Races as well as a qualifier race for the Rotax Nationals in late summer. In the next week there is some exciting news coming soon on Cole Glasson and his future racing so stay tuned.

Cole is sponsored by Frozen Fire Films and KartRacing Solutions. He has a full time driving coach and tuner, DJ Ortiz, who continues to develop Cole and his racing style.
