Market Street Goes Green for Connemara
Green isn't just for vegetables. Beginning June 13 through June 22, the Market Street at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm will offer shoppers a chance to "Go Green for Good" by contributing to the Connemara Conservancy (connemaraconservancy.org).
Store guests can purchase $1 scan cards at registers and Market Street will match each donation dollar-for-dollar. All proceeds go to Connemara, a nonprofit land trust dedicated to protecting and conserving the critical natural landscapes remaining throughout North Texas.
Founded in 1981 by Amy Monier and her mother, the late Frances Williams, Connemara began as a gift of 72 acres of family land at Montgomery Farm to be protected forever.
Ahead of her time, Frances was concerned that her family's land was in jeopardy of succumbing to urban sprawl. By protecting the Meadow in its natural state forever, Frances gave the public a gift and the opportunity to experience and understand Texas as it was, as it would be without us, and as an open window to the environment we live in.
Connemara soon realized the need for large-scale conservation throughout the North Texas area. As a result, it became one of Texas' first land trusts and today works with landowners and communities to protect and conserve more then 2,000 acres of land throughout North Texas. Connemara is the only regional land trust focusing solely on North Texas preservation.
Market Street is a world-class food concept store, a unique market that combines the everyday groceries store guests need with the specialty items, whole-health/gourmet products and pre-prepared foods.
The Allen store is an anchor tenant for Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, an upscale mixed-use lifestyle center that is part of the 600-acre Montgomery Farm conservation development. In addition to the mixed-use center that houses Market Street, Montgomery Farm also includes shopping, restaurants, office space and single-family residences. Half of the development has been left to open space.
