Journalism Students Selected for Who's Who

Congratulations to the freshmen journalists who were select to the United States Achievement Academy's 2008-2009 Who's Who in Journalism.

The students selected were Steffi Loe, Morgan McTague, David Barr, Jocelyn Ortiz, Maggie Willems, Savannah Choate, Sam Hawkins, Connor Martin, Nandini Patel, Sahasya Singh, Tyler Southern, Courtney Mitchell, Hannah Getz, Niki Keramat, Hailey Marcinek, Senna Nilsson and Nicole Welch.

Allen ISD Transportation Employee Wins Safety Award

Allen ISD Transportation’s driver trainer Bill Murray has been selected as the Safety Manager of the Year by the Texas chapter of the National Safety Council. The Allen ISD Transportation Department also won the honor award in the Motor Fleet Safety category.

Allen School Buses Turning 'Green'

Allen Independent School District received a $151,539.95 grant to turn 37 school buses into green machines.

The grant is part of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Clean School Bus Program, which aims to improve the health of school children and bus drivers by reducing emissions of diesel exhaust from school buses. (more)

Allen Campuses Working to Watch Their Watts

Watt Watcher sponsors from 10 Allen Independent School District campuses attended a workshop with representatives from Watt Watchers of Texas on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Sponsors received tips from Watt Watchers of Texas about how to set up and operate Watt Watcher programs on their campus. (more)
