We all heard about it when Food Network's Guy Fieri hit town a few months ago to film Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, and the episodes the crew filmed are finally hitting the airwaves.

Fieri stopped at Avila's on Maple and Louie's on Henderson in addition to Deep Ellum's Twisted Root Burger Co., which will be featured on the April 27 show at 9 p.m.

Dallas boasts some of the best burgers around, so it's only fair that one of our city's joints be profiled on the show. A previous episode spotlighting burgers featured Santa Fe's legendary Bobcat Bite, and judging from how killer their green chili burgers are, the producers have good taste.

Local chef Jason Boso owns Twisted Root, which has another location in Richardson.

What are your favorite spots to eat in Dallas? What restaurants in your neighborhood are must-eat establishments?

This months Ladies Polo Auxiliary lunch was hel at Chic from Barcleona, one of my favorite restaurants. I've been a big fan since they first opened, having attended the fabulous grand opening complete with the releasing of the doves, the opera singer and performance by the owners daughter who participates in 'Circus School' at Dallas International School. It was unlike any grand opening I;'d ever been to.

Besides the many times I've lunched their, I also hosted my husbands birthday party there last year where we had the entire place for our party. magda and Rafa, owners and friends, opened on a normally closed night, especially for us. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad experience at chci. The food is amazingly delicios. it's spanish, not mexican, a huge difference. I normally have the secret recipe rotisserie chicken, broguht here from Barcelona is the recipe of a famous chef and is the only place in the USA to enjoy this dish. but today I had a new fave from the new menu-paella with shrimp, which is only made for 2 or more and must be ordered quickly as it takes a while to prepare. But, no worries becasue Ifeast on the bread with the Manchego cheese and wine in the meantime!

Yes, lunchtime meal with wine does make me sleepy but I'm home and having a cup of herbal hot tea before walking the two blocks to Armstrong to pick up the kids!. Running around to ballet and basketball practice will wake me up completely and then it's off to The mansion for a charity event kick off party.....isn't life ...full of food?

I'm president of a women's group-Ladies Polo Auxilairy-and we lunch at a different area restaurant once a month as part of our event planning regime. Last month we decided it might be fun to write a review of our lunch experience to share with members who didn't make it.

In December, 6 LPA members lunched at NM Cafe at Niemans North Park. We hadn't been there since the name change from Zodiac and wanted to see if there was a difference. We had reservations and there was no wait, we got seated right away. The restaurant was pretty full and was a who's who of Dallas Society women. Sitting at the table next to us was Brenda from Good Morning Texas , so we felt we were in good company!

Yes, they still serve those wonderful rolls with the strawberry butter, thank goodness! A Niemans staple, I could just eat those and be fine. The chicken broth is still served in the tiny cup, as well, but I'm a bread girl. My salad was absolutely delicious as everyone said theirs was, too. I had a little order envy as my friend sitting next to me had the chicken and dumplings and it was a chilly day...I thought she was so smart!

it isn't the food that makes me sleepy as much as the afternoon glasses of wine. I had ordered iced tea but the smart chicken and dumpling girl said "let's have wine," and hey, why not?  so, two glasses at $14 a glass (whew! I bought a bottle at Magnolia Theatre for the price of those two glasses) and would really liked to have a nap, but by the time we finished it was pick up kids time from school. Luckily, I'm walking distance to school, so the brisk walk wakes me up a bit and I'm not drinking and driving!

4 of the girls didn't know that Niemans only accepts Niemans card, cash or a check and were running to the cash machine. So, do be prepared and bring cash or checbook if you don't carry Niemans card.

This month we're doing "Chic From Barcelona" , stay tuned........
