I took a trip to the State Fair this weekend, and I certainly couldn’t miss the butter sculpture. But I have to admit, I was expecting it to be bigger. Apparently I don’t have a realistic idea of what 700 pounds of butter looks like.

I take 121 to work every morning now. I noticed recently that since no one uses change, tolls are more like $1.18 or $0.61 rather than $1 or $0.40.

Nothing signals the start of autumn quite like a pumpkin. The members of Grace Avenue United Methodist Church and volunteers from Frisco schools kicked off fall festivities by unloading an eighteen-wheeler full of pumpkins on Oct. 2.

OK, it wasn't that big. And it didn't actually attack us, per se. But "fairly large insect enters West Zone office" just doesn't sound as cool. Take a look at the video to see how our fearless leader, Robert Tracy, captured the intruder. (more)

Most students don't start till next week, but today is my sister's first day of grad school at UT Dallas. I really wanted to get a picture of her and her brown bag lunch, but her first class wasn't until 11:30, and we adults have to be at work before then.

According to one of my college professors, Hebrew used to be a dying language, similar to Latin.

Did anyone read Steve Blow's recent columns on dying words? There are a lot of "old-fashioned" words, like dadgummit, that people rarely say anymore.
