We have so many treasures in Collin County. Where are they hidden? Why don't more residents know they exist and take the opportunity to visit and utilize them? In the next few months, I will attempt to bring to light many of Collin Counties hidden treasures so that they can remain treasures...but no longer be hidden.

Ask any third grader in Plano ISD and they can tell you all about the history of Plano.  Why you ask?  Because as part of the TEKS (the skills that get you to TAKS) you learn all about Change and Continuity. They visit the farm to experience innovation on the farm, family life and values, and life on the Blackland Prairie.  Students tour the farm and most of its buildings.  They visit the Blacksmith, learn about what foods were grown and why, and get to feed the chickens.  As they tour they will learn about the chores children their age did before heading off to school and after they returned.  They learn how early Texans managed to stay out of the heat in the summer and view innovations such as the changes in the iron.  Do you know what a Transom window is and what it is used for?

But life has just seemed to have gotten in the way until now.  With the economy in the tank, I've taken a step back to prioritize what is really important in my life.  My Family.  With three kids ages almost 15, almost 10 and almost 6, it can be extremely challenging to find activities that will interest all three with out breaking the bank.  (more)
