A look into my world as a Seattle girl living my new Dallas life.

What a whirlwind the past two weeks have been.

I am happy to report that I made it back from Mexico as a married woman, sans the Swine Flu. You really would have no clue the virus even existed except for the fact that the hotels and restaurants were empty. That in turn resulted in our group getting the VIP treatment wherever we went, but you feel bad for all the money being lost by the businesses that thrive on American tourists.

So after all of the concern, questions, contemplations and difficult decisions...the wedding must go on! We aren't letting a little flu get in the way of our dream wedding. With that said we are hopping a plane tomorrow afternoon on our way to the sunny beaches of Cancun for 10 days of fun, sun, and... oh ya ... to get married!

We are very excited but we have been dealing with some unfortunate news. One of our groomsmen and his girlfriend decided against coming to Mexico at the last minute due to the Swine Flu. We are a little sad about it, but respect their decision. They will definitely be missed, but again... the wedding must go on.

A week from today I am set to leave for my wedding in Cancun Mexico. Throughout the past year that I have been planning a destination wedding, I have been faced with many challenges. First it was the failing economy, then it was the drug wars on the Mexico-US border, and now... the Swine Flu. I never thought I would hate hearing a word more than I hate the word "economy" but I was wrong...ever time I hear the words "Swine Flu" now, I cringe.

Are you a superstitious person? If you are, you probably are already aware that today isn’t just any ordinary Friday, it’s Friday the 13th. When I realized this, I began some research as to what the story is behind this dreaded day. After doing some “googleing,” I learned that an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day, and that the technical term is “paraskavedekatriaphobia.”There are many different theories as to how this phobia came to be, the most prominent being that the number 13 and Fridays are unlucky, so combined they make for one superstitious day. I will start by saying it wasn't until I came to work this morning did I see Georgie boy's face in a photo posted by Oscar.

I was one of the lucky few to be in charge of the monkey's behind for the Neiman Marcus Children's Parade this past Saturday. The experience was unlike any other. Not only will the word "SPIN!" forever have a new meaning, but I will never look at the streets of Dallas the same as I did while I was being drug behind the balloon feeling more like I was taking Godzilla for a walk.

And I apologize to those of you who George tried to dive-bomb while we maneuvered him around a light post. The screams from the crowd were quite frightening (again feeling as though I was trying to tame Godzilla).

All in all, the experience was an interesting one. Will I do it again next year? That is still to be determined.
