I don’t know what I want to be for Halloween, but I do know where to get started now, thanks to super-mom Ramona Dupre, who recently shared her great ideas about crafting a super-creative costume for an upcoming article. (You can find it here on Friday.)

One of the things she talked about is how much more fun it is to make a costume than buy one. That got me thinking.

All of us have made/worn a homemade Halloween costume or two in our time. Wouldn’t it be fun to share them on neighborsgo? And couldn't certain people who don't know what to be for Halloween, naming no names, get some great ideas if we did?

While the above headline counts me out, I'm sure lots of you fit the bill and are just the folks a group of residents are looking for to help them make Christmas stockings for donation to Metrocrest Social Services.

Every once in a while, when my guardian angel teams up with a couple of her friends, the planets align and I remember to wear my lucky socks, my projects turn out OK. I think my jelly jar lanterns are one of these relative successes.

I know my husband wears slippers in public. I’m okay with the fact that he thinks that his favorite T-shirt is still wearable, even though it’s faded and has at least three holes in it. I’ve grown to accept that every Sunday he will sit down in the church pew, cross his legs and look at me to make sure I’m properly mortified that he is wearing white socks with black dress pants. But I wasn’t prepared for this.

Recently, I wrote about one of my favorite pastimes — thrift-store shopping. Many’s the time I’ve come home with something eclectic — OK, weird — from a secondhand shop and had to defend it and my habit to my husband.

Turns out, a lot of you share my penchant for thrift stores. When we announced that we were holding a contest to see who had the best find, community members posted photos of some awesome steals on neighborsgo.com. (You can see some of them above.)
