Sometimes, we receive inspiration from books, people, experiences or perhaps self motivating. Today, we listened attentively and shared the experiences of a local author and rising entrepreneur of Dallas Texas. The life lessons shared were inspirational, unforgettable, another piece we're carving to our memoirs the 2009 Summer Writers Fling at Richland College. Our lives will never be the same after today, the time we spent, the moments we shared, our fears and pain uncovered. Our purpose was to touch a heart, perhaps lives of others and inspire them to do the same.

Writing is a passion of mine, but not neccessarily the passion of my students. It can be a taxing trying to persuade others the benefits of communicating their thoughts, ideas in writing. My students are rising seniors, and upcoming juniors, they will lead the world someday. My wish for them is they will be equipped not just with essential tools of reading, writing and math. But, also have the ability to articulate their opinions and grievances with all audiences beyond their the walls of any classroom. My desire is for them is to find comfort in writing, and read the works of others to capture other ideas

Our author's visit was meaningful, filled with a purpose. The students were engaged as he went about the lessons of life. Teachings of wisdoms, reflections, our past, obstables that could be hinder our lives. Some of us will rewrite history, taken those collective memories of the Summer 2009. The Writer's Fling we will never forget. Each guest leaves an imprint that shapes our future, impacts the decisions we will make daily. They leave an impression that will last forever. Our faces sadden as they leave the room, our hearts rejoice because we've gained more knowledge and wisdom than before. Thank you.

Our class was enchanted with the presence of Kathy Williams of Rockwall County News. During the visit Kathy shared some fascinating facts about her life as an editor. The class was moved and encouraged by the statements and questions she embarked on them, as they look toward their future of becoming better readers and writers. The rising seniors and juniors shared a heart-felt moment that they will remember for years to come. Still, having a summer writer's fling, with dashing guest speakers and valuable information. We are adding to our memories Summer 2009 at Richland College, the summer we opened our lives to the DFW.

Have you ever wanted to have a fling, a short summer writers fling where like minds come together, collaborate ideas, and share real stories that happened to them? Well, that’s exactly what I’m having this summer a Summer Writer’s Fling with the students of United Youth Program at Richland College.

We are creating and posting our memoirs about real stories that shook our heart, yes we are keeping it real. We invite you to read our blogs, step inside our world as we take you along the adventures that constantly creeps and haunts us daily. Our stories reveal truth, reflection which are the secrets to memoirs. They portray the pain, disappointments, fears, and obstacles we faced and overcame from our tenacious spirits. We are warriors, who capture the hearts and souls of booklovers, and writers. We resonate the dileminas faced by individuals, families, communities. The memoirs we create will reveal a sense of connectiveness we all share with one another, memoirs that will leave an imprint in our hearts that captured the heart of the community. Without looking over our shoulders, we know we are destined for greatness, we will reflect back on the memoirs created during our short 2009 Summer Writer’s Fling.

Then, we will know we have a purpose, a place, in this society. We are warriors, prepared for battle, armed with our knowledge we gained throughout the years, taken life lessons taught from parents, reflecting on the summers spent during the Summer Writer’s Fling at Richland College. We are destined for greatness, because we have sustained through life’s challenges and disappointments. We are the class of 2009 Summer Writer’s Fling of Richland College.
