So I've gone skydiving (not without a lot of freaking out and nervousness), now I've got tickets to Zero Gravity go for 30 days (roughly end of August). Well, lucky me -- I got sick last week -- good excuse. I'm better now, but poor daughter got wisdom teeth and needs her Mom (though she probably would deny it if she were clear-headed).

Even having gone skydiving, my stomach somehow manages to do all kinds of acrobatics I've never been able to do in my life. Watching the video and looking at the cool skydiving pics doesn't help.

I'd rather debate what car to get than to muster up courage.

Our kids?  The parents or the technology companies that pushed the original 4X4 plan in the first place?  Why is it that the term 'parents' makes legislators cringe and take our views with a grain of salt but hold in high esteem the companies with their supposedly highly educated people at the helm?  Parents come in all forms, and yes many of us are or were professionals and also highly educated. Why should parents not be considered seriously.  After all don't we make up an extremely large voting block that puts them in Austin in the first place?

We lobby just like the big companies the only difference is that we do it because we are passionate about it and we don't get paid to do it.  The only out come we hope for, is a better future for the kids of Texas.  Our kids!  It is time for the legislature to hear the parents of Texas.  Put the interests of our kids first not the technology companies.

People ask me how the trip to Austin went.  I can't seem to stop talking about how exciting it was and about all the changes we talked about with the local law makers.  I stress how important it is for them to contact their Representative and Senator, to share their views on the legislation up for consideration this term.  It is only through our voices that we are heard.

Speak Up!  Be Heard!  Help be a part of the CHANGE!

The day started just like any day in my life, late and in a hurry. I had set the alarm for 4:15 am, or at least I thought I had. I awoke with a start. Wasn't the alarm going to go off? Oh no, it was 4:45 am! Quickly, I got ready and out the door with coffee in hand.  I didn't want to be late, the bus was leaving at 5:40am and we were heading to the Capital!  I arrived exactly on time, but I shouldn't have worried, everyone was feeling the effects of the early hour.  The bus, a luxurious motor coach, left PISD administration building at 6:00 am. A little late but we were finally on the road!

It was still dark out, but we were on our way!   The bus ride started out quiet; everyone a little nervous about what we were going to do in Austin. As the hours passed by, little by little, we got to know one another better and learned what we were each passionate about. By the time we arrived at the Capital we were ready to voice our opinions and help our lawmakers fix our education system. The bus pulled up just a block from the capital building. We had an ambitious agenda; would we be able to accomplish all that we wanted?
