When you run on trails- give the bigger guy the right of way or the faster guy. Don't hog the road when you can create a huge problem. When you are out at a busy place like North Shore at Grapevine Lake, there will be mountain bikers, hikers, runners, families, lots of people- especially on a beautiful 80 degree day like last week. Read up on what the trail signs mean so you don't get lost or in the way. Let people know you are there because mountain bikers come around a corner at a good speed, there will be an accident if you do not say... something like "Corner!" or let others know that a biker is coming there way- if you see the biker coming from behind them and you are running, say something like, "walkers ahead" to the biker or "biker coming", yelling to the walkers. There must be complete communication on a straight in/out trail.

Learn the trail markings, not just boy scouts or avid mountain climber need to know but everyone does. Speaking of boy scouts click on this link to find out more regarding trail markings: http://borntoexplore.org/trails/trail_markings.htm

There were a lot of first timers out there too. I saw a few really bad biker falls because they shouldn't have been on that particular trail; you find that a lot. But the view from North Shore was breath-taking over the cliffs. I even took ten minutes to do yoga, then finished my run. Its a great trail: 9 miles in and back. Make sure you take water and have plenty of time to enjoy it. I definitely will go back again. Even I, an avid athlete knew that I should practice on a different trail for biking before I took that one. So take the low road or the high road and let the bikers take their road, look down if you are confused as to which road is most traveled by the bikers and go immediately to the right if you spot one. They should even let you know they are coming by yelling. Let's all have a fun safe time at the beautiful North Shore of Grapevine.
