My husband, David and I went to the spectator area to check out the house in Keller being worked on by the Extreme Makeover (t.v. show) crew.
David had met the host of the show, Ty Pennington on Saturday (so yesterday). My husband was riding as front passenger in his brother's car with his window rolled down and spotted Ty while they were driving through the Fort Worth stockyards. David called Ty over to the car and he came. He spoke with Ty for a couple of minutes.
Then, today, I met Paul as he came up to me after the kind tall guy I had just met in the spectator crowd yelled out loudly, "Hey Paul, this lady has something to tell you." So then I informed Paul that my best friend's baby died after only living 12 hours. (to understand why I told him this, see chosen family's story below)
I also told Paul how I loved his spirit, his heart and how his attitude inspired me so much that I wanted him to have a copy of an article I had written that had just been published a few days ago - about coping with loss during the holidays - as I lost six relatives in six months, including my parents and uncle. So Paul took the article (I wonder if he'll read it? Hope so.) I told him I didn't expect to start crying right then and there, but I did - and he then replied, "Welcome to my world. I always end up crying while working on the show."
Then, I gave Paul a big hug. The crowd around us had become completely silent while I was speaking with him. They were all watching and listening intently. Then, after I hugged and thanked Paul, I walked away to the back of the crowd where my husband hugged me; I was overwhelmed with emotions from all I'd been thru this year and thankful for such a blessed opportunity of such a happy moment.
A few minutes later, Paul spotted me from afar, and noticed I was crying and said aloud, "Well, do you feel better or worse now?" And I smiled and answered, "Much better! Thank you." :) :) :)
Love & Peace,
'Chelle
