Dallas Morning News colleague Sam Hodges has a story on a debate that has come up in the city of Lucas.

Mayor Bill Carmickle called a special City Council meeting to discuss whether the use of air horns at high school football games should be prohibited.

Apparently, some area horse owners have complained that loud noises like that could lead to dangerous situations -- such as bucking off riders. I've definitely fallen off a horse because of a tree branch that snapped as we passed by it. Horses are skittish animals, no?

Others say this has come as a result of rising tensions between the city and the Lovejoy Independent School District.
