Revisiting Ebby's visit with Mr. Ogas

Bookmark and Share
Neighborsgo is designed to share the good-news stories that present the communities we serve in a positive light.

Every once in a while, something comes along that reflects that "feel-good" energy back on us.

Such is the case with the story of a Realtor following up with a client 53 years after she sold him his house.

The Realtor is Ebby Halliday, 98; the client is Raymond Ogas, 97.

In case you missed the links, here they are:

Below are comments we've received across several platforms, including dallasnews.com, neighborsgo.com, Facebook and Twitter. They're great reminders of why it's called "social" media.

If you'd like to share your comments, please do! (Just click on any of the links above or in the "comments" area below.)

Thanks for being such a great audience, neighborsgo nation!

What a great story! Ebby Halliday is indeed the "First Lady of Real Estate." As an area Realtor myself, I can only hope to see myself sharing a lemonade 50 years from now with a long-time client! This affirms my belief that we Realtors not only procure clients, but mostly "friends for life."

Hope I'm still as sharp as Ebby when I'm 98! Amazing woman.

I think that was a wonderful thing for Ebby to do!

So cool!

This happens once in a life time! Would have loved to be at the meeting.

This absolutely made my day! DMN needs to feature more of these types of stories.

Classy classy lady.

Great article!!! I've read that Ms Halliday still drives her own car. I wonder if she drove herself to visit Mr. Ogas. Kudos to DMN for print this story. There should more articles like this in the paper.

Who can ever forget that "Ebby Halliday sells Dallas?" An ad I recall also from at least forty years ago, as a former resident. Some things surely do last a long time in Texas!

Well I have often thought that Ebby has a gentle soul about her. She proves that one can be a savvy business person without being a shark circling the tank. Would like to know the secret of her and Mr. Ogas' long life. Honesty and integrety probably figure in there somewhere for the both of them.

DMN should become America's Good-News newspaper. What a wonderful possibility.

Very, very nice story. What a great break from all the negativity happening in our city. Thanks Ms. Halliday!!!!!!!!!!!

I love to see people of this age still being able to get around and socialize. I also love it that they still have great memories and great stories to tell.....

I can think of no one in Dallas who has more class, poise and character than Ebby, and manages to do so without intentionally trying. Even at 98, she sets an example we could all strive to achieve and shows that simply caring about one another and taking time to show it is what living life to its fullest is all about.

What a heartwarming story!

I have been lucky enough to meet Mr. Ogus a few times as I am friends with his granddaughter and her family. He is a wonderful man with many many stories to tell and I'm glad the DMN is making it possible for others to see a glimpse of this treasure of a man.

Heartwarming; just what I needed this dreary Sunday morning -- Thanks!

She,...Ebby is always working and that is great.
Talk about doinf "follow-up" calls to see if the customer is still happy. Wow.
With all due respect, could Ebby be "caling" on Mr Ogas? All right now Ebby!

What a wonderful story...

Dallas is probably one of the last places left where one can find a real American Spirit in tact. God, Bless America!...

Ebby is a true Lady and a Great American

All the way from California this happy Dallas story made my day..thank you
