If you’re wondering how to find stories relating to Plano and Murphy at neighborsgo.com, without searching through endless content from other areas, you’re not alone.
I recently met with Paige Burton, who handles communications for Prestonwood Christian Academy. She asked how her stories could stay visible on the site when content is constantly flowing in from other contributors.
I have three solutions to her problem, as well as a way for everyone to easily find Plano-and Murphy-related stories.
For the most up-to-date news, I will change the top stories for the Murphy and East, Central and West Plano communities every weekday morning by 10 a.m.
To find these stories, go to the 1, 2 and 3 drop-down menus at the top of the site’s homepage and select one of our four city categories from No. 1’s “pick a community.” Leave No. 2 and 3 as “all” and “everything,” then press “GO.”
It’s important to make sure you are logged into the site in order to view our community-specific pages. Sometimes, the site will sign you out, even if it says you are still signed in. The solution to this is to log out and log back in, and then you can select a community.
On each community’s homepage, you’ll be able to find the top five stories of the day in the “your stories” box.
If you post something that’s interesting with a good photo, it could make the main story lead. And, if I think it deserves more coverage, it may stay in the top stories listing for a couple of days.
The next best way to find stories relating only to our area is to visit neighborsgo.com/blog/planonoteworthy. Here you’ll find the “Fresh Picks” listing posted every Friday with links to stories posted that week about Plano and Murphy. No longer do you have to search through the long story listings. Everything is conveniently in one place.
The final way to access our local news is to visit the neighborsgo editors’ blog at neighborsgoblog.dallasnews.com. Editors from all 18 print editions post the top stories, blogs, videos, photos and other news of the day. I usually post by 8:30 a.m. every weekday with the best Plano or Murphy news from the site. To view our content only, select “Plano/Murphy” from the categories on the left-hand sidebar.
