In celebration of Veterans Day, your community is buzzing with activity. Here are three of the larger events that you should check out. 14,000 flags at Heritage Ranch? Sounds gorgeous. A chance to purchase game-worn camouflage jerseys right off of an Allen American's back and take a photo with the Stanley Cup? Sounds lucky. And 50 Marion Elementary students each will have a veteran to escort, introduce and parade with around the campus. Now, that sounds like a learning experience.

Heritage Ranch
Heritage Ranch will host all fifth-grade students in Lovejoy ISD as well as NorthTexasChristianAcademy
for a Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 11 at its club house,
465 Scenic Ranch Circle in McKinney. With 14,000
American flags on display, the students will see a presentation followed by a
viewing of veterans’ memorabilia
Allen Americans
Besides seeing what’s sure to be an action-packed game against the Texas
Brahmas on Nov. 11, you’ll be able to take your picture with hockey’s most
coveted trophy — the Stanley Cup. Fans also can bid on limited edition
game-worn camouflage jerseys off the players’ backs in an auction after the
game. All proceeds raised will benefit the Men and Women of the Texas National
Guard of Collin County and the Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation.
Americans owners Doug Miller and Steve Duchesne, oilman T. Boone Pickens and Boston’s Gourmet Pizza
owner Jim Treliving have agreed to match the amount raised.
Marion
Elementary
Marion Elementary will have its seventh annual Veterans Day
breakfast and parade at 7:30 a.m. today at the school,
1595 Stablerun Dr. The school’s principal
and its namesake will speak, the sixth-grade choir will perform and 50 veterans
will be escorted and introduced students. Afterward, students and veteran guests
will parade through the hallway.
