Storms downed power lines and trees, damaged property, knocked out traffic lights and flooded portions of the Metroplex, closing roads and causing major headaches for commuters. Storm photos: View | Post yours

Downed power lines, lights out
Coming from Plano to work this morning was challenging at best. First, there were tree limbs all over the streets in my Plano neighborhood. I thought that was bad till I got on Parker Road and the lights were all out. Not only that, but some of the lights were askew making motorists wonder if they could just fall over at any time.
To their credit, the city of Plano was already out fixing the problem.

But then the worst thing were the downed power lines further west on Parker Road in the area known as FM544, where there were power poles and live wires strewn all over the street.

After passing over some of these, I feel lucky to be alive!

So, if you're traveling that way, be aware that you won't be able to go any further on 544 than the intersection of 544 and Plano Parkway. And it might be a good idea to skip that area altogether because of the damage and debris. Crews are currently working to repair the damage.

Traffic from 544 is being diverted to State Highway 121. So, my last roadblock was an accident on Plano Parkway and 121. From there I sailed into Lewisville thinking won't it be nice when that highway is complete and open?

By the way, does anyone know when that'll happen? The directional signs are already up so it can't be too long.
