Dr. Nancy Remp Smith will offer a lecture to the public on “Ancient Egyptian Religion and Mythology,” drawn from her extensive research on the subject, on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at 7 PM in the Dulaney Room of the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library. She will discuss the rapid development of ancient Egyptian culture, the history of Egyptian religion as compared to other world religions, the meanings of mummies and pyramids, and sacred cats and crocodiles. Nancy Remp Smith holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion from Southern Methodist University and has taught World Religions, History of Religions, Ethics, and Contemporary Religious Problems at Brookhaven College and the Collin County Community College District. An entertaining and engaging speaker, she has also lectured at area churches and cultural organizations, including a recent talk at McKinney Public Library on the culture and religion of the Vikings. The event is free to the public.
