Emotionally riveting and profoundly moving, Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult, brings us into the heart of a family bound by an incredible burden, a desperate will to keep their ties from breaking, and a powerful capacity for love. This book has touched my heart and has made me stop to think – what would I do? Once again, we will prepare a great meal together (hands-on), before sitting down to enjoy and discussing. The menu will be taken from the great desserts by one of our characters in the book, Charlotte O'Keefe, Pastry Chef great ideas for the holidays. Sign up early, class space is limited.

A CHRISTMAS STORY THEATRE COPPELL Presents:
A CHRISTMAS STORY – by Jean Shepherd. Adapted by Philip Grecian.
Nine-year-old Ralphie Parker wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. He pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself, but the consistent response is, “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the nostalgic elements of the popular movie are here: the exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin & Ralphie’s father winning a lamp shaped like a woman’s leg. Truly a holiday classic!
Performances are December 4th thru 20th at 8:00 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays, with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. There will also be one special matinee performance on Saturday, December 19th at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $14 ($12 for seniors & students) & may be purchased online at www.TheatreCoppell.com or by calling the box office at (972) 745-7719. | Theatre Coppell 157 Moore Rd.

Jazz Vespers with Neeki Bey Sunday, December 6 at 6 p.m.
Popular local musician Neeki Bey will lead a special Vespers service built around music coming from within the jazz and blues traditions. The Jazz Vespers Service is itself a synthesis of several traditions, each finding a unifying voice through the unique musical heritage called jazz. Jazz music emerges as a balm that has the power to heal and inspire, capturing the hope of reconciliation. Jazz reminds us who we are and where we have come from, while inspiring us into the reality of who we can become in the Risen Christ. Jazz is the music of the social gospel of Jesus Christ. A time of community will be offered before and after the service; coffee, other beverages and snacks will be served. | Cathedral of Hope UCC 5910 Cedar Springs Rd.

A Night in Bethelhem A Night in Bethlehem
Live Nativity
The story of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is familiar to many, as books, TV programs, radio shows, and songs for years have shared Mary’s journey to Bethlehem and much of what followed. However, it is not everyday that we get the opportunity to truly experience the spirit that must have filled the air on the night that our Lord entered this earth. Chisholm Baptist Church would like to extend an invitation for you to join them to share “A Night in Bethlehem.” This Live Nativity scene, complete with animals, elaborate costumes, live narration, and singing will take you back in time and fill your heart with the warmth and hope given to us through the birth of Christ and his promise of salvation.
There will be multiple performances on both Friday, December 11th and Saturday December 12th; from 7pm to 9pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit with CBC’s pastor, Brother Rocky Weatherford, and share refreshments i | A Night in Bethlehem 1331 S. Hwy. 205

Winter SolstiCelebration: celebrating Joy & W Winter SolstiCelebration returns for its 17th year, attracting over a thousand people each year who come to experience the redemptive power of darkness and the regenerative nature of light, the beloved North Texas celebration is the second largest Winter Solstice gathering in the nation.
For 2009, the multi-cultural, non-sectarian event explores the theme of Joy & Wonder through song, poetry, ceremony, dance, comedy, ritual, storytelling, drumming and a myriad of musical styles. This year also features puppetry, magic, juggling and even professional yo-yo artistry. It promises to be lighthearted yet full of awe.
In the hour before and after the Winter Solstice service, a lively Yule Fest in the lobby hosts roving characters, music, photos with Father Winter and much more. Arriving attendees are blessed by the Wonder Women and invited to symbolically help prepare a communal soup in the fellowship hall.

Gloria Deo A service of Lessons and Carols
by Benjamin Harlan
Presented by Grace Bible Church Sanctuary Choir
The traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols was first held on Christmas Eve in 1918 at King’s College in Cambridge, England. The next year the Order of Service was revised and from then on the service has always begun with the hymn, “Once in Royal David’s City.” In the years to follow, carols were often changed and new carols were introduced, but the lessons and prayers have remained virtually intact from the beginning.
The idea for a service of Lessons and Carols originated in 1880 when the Archbishop of Canterbury put together a service for Christmas Eve. The King’s College service became an accepted model and has been adapted again and again by other churches around the world.
The main theme of the Service of Lessons and Carols is “the loving purposes of God” presented through the scripture readings. These readings provide both the structural pattern a | Grace Bible Church 11306 Inwood Road

Blue Christmas Feeling blue this Christmas?
Christmas isn't a joyful time for everyone. There's still grief, there's still difficulty, even in December.
If you're just not feeling it this year, maybe our Blue Christmas worship service is for you.
At 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, we will have a time of music and prayer, and a message of hope. Prayer partners will be available during and after the service.
Reverend Liz Moen will be leading this special service and will be delivering the message titled "We Need This Baby." The focus of the evening is to try and find a glimmer of hope or light in the midst of the darkness. | Aldersgate United Methodist Church 3926 Old Denton Road
